Topple the Pole!


Today we have decided to release the latest version of the match engine for Stickdown!

This little piece of technology serves as the front-end for a persistent sports league we have been testing on and off for the past few months as the project shifted from 3D to 2D. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress and does not reflect the final.



In the long-term the plan is to put together a small persistent sports league where everyone begins as a free agent who builds up a career. Having to build skill and reputation in the amateur and semi-pro circuit before competing for regional titles and eventually running a team.  



Your stats would be accessible via Discord, desktop and web with plans for mobile if we can build enough of a foundation.  Depth would include injuries, tactics, roster management, skill training and a rich NPC dialogue system for immersion when managing a team.

As far as we know this match engine simulating games of BoTaoshi is the first of its kind. And we know there's a lot more work to do, but in sharing we hope to build interest and hopefully learn more about what other people want to see from Stickdown! in the future.

The version available at the time of writing is largely for spectating although there are some minor controls that serve to suggest or command your team. More information can be found inside of the README file included.
