Apsis Online | Looking Ahead

Today is Waveday on the 15th of Rimmoon. The air is heavy with humidity.  I can feel the ground beneath as lush and damp as always.  Everywhere, the sound of water trickling and cascading is ever-present. Lightning illuminated a sheet of dark clouds pulled across the sky and, at times, this planet would be caught in a seemingly eternal rainfall.

The rain would become puddles and lakes but that is when you can see the Nutroon (`n) eggs float up toward the surface, waiting to hatch..

It is these creatures that will be the focus of V7 considering the work being done to the simulation engine. As well as their less benign counterparts the Mutroon (`m). The release of which is something I have been considering a major pre-requisite to a Steam launch. But there's good news too! Today I was able to talk to our server sponsor to get test builds live again. So that means the most current version of the game is already up for internal testing.

Some other changes to expect by V7:

  • Players can begin the game on Bromius II as an adult Nutroon instead of a human on a spaceship (default).
  • Frontier Companies Factions V1
    • Our guilds and will allow players to issue referrals to friends for mutual perks.
  • Combat V2
    • Real-time. More detail.
  • Simplified UI for RBBS
    • Been in the backlog, a Windows thing.
  • Expanded NPC AI
    • Fits into the work happening on FCs. Will be able to hire NPCs.
  • Expanded player profiles + player stories (auto-updated web pages).
  • Bases (special points of interest on a planet, allows missions)
  • Excursions V1
    • Allows players and/or FCs to capture/hold bases on planets.

Delayed features

  • Genetic engineering (I know)

Happy to see this project back!

I can't find a download for the ZIP file, though. Is that coming?

v6.2 released today. It's a limited release but should allow me to start benchmarking for performance from here on it. Also should be up for a while. Thanks!

Awesome! I see the Windows version is up but not the Linux one... can that one be uploaded soon?
